Kathryn Howell

President of San-Francisco - Northern California Local of SAG-AFTRA

After receiving a BFA in Theatre from UNC Chapel Hill, Kathryn moved to New York City where she continued her studies at HB Studios, worked Off Broadway and at the Repertory Theatre of Lincoln Center. She relocated to San Francisco after receiving a scholarship for advanced study at American Conservatory Theatre.  For over 30 years, Kathryn has worked on stage and in film and television. Notable film credits include The Assassination of Richard Nixon with Sean Penn, Chrystal with Billy Bob Thornton, The Zodiac and James and the Giant Peach. On Television, she has appeared in Criminal MindsTales From the CryptNash Bridges and several Television Movies. Kathryn has worked with directors Clint Eastwood, Lawrence Kasdan, Richard Donner and Ray McKinnon.
A proud member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, Kathryn has served as an elected representative of her Unions for many years.  Currently she is the President of the San Francisco – Northern California Local of SAG-AFTRA.  Her focus has been to increase awareness of our large talent base by networking with film commissions, labor leaders including local representative of DGA, WGA and IATSI, and other industry professionals.  On the national front, Kathryn has been a leader of the Presidents’ Forum, working with the Presidents of all 25 Locals across the country identifying and finding solutions for mutual concerns.
