Nick Maccarone

Actor, Author, Speaker, and Filmmaker

From Nick:

I’m an actor, author, speaker, filmmaker, and community outreach volunteer. Like many of you my childhood dream was to become a storyteller. I worked hard, went to a great drama school, and soon after began auditioning for television, theater, and feature films. It was an exhilarating time.

But like any endeavor, I faced many obstacles in my pursuit, not the least of which was a sense of emptiness. For the first time, I’d lost my “why” and became mentally, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted by the constant need to focus on myself to advance my career.

Slowly, I began looking outward and spending my free time reading widely, participating in hobbies outside of acting, traveling the world, creating my own work, learning to define success on my own terms, and volunteering to help others.

As a result, I became a more fulfilled person and even a better actor. I felt calmer, wiser, and happier. My experiences infused my life with a deeper sense of meaning that served my work on stage and in front of the camera.

Looking back, I would have benefited from a book, a class, a workshop, an online community, a “something” to offer support in the most competitive industry in the world. In my pursuit, I stumbled across countless resources on where to get the best headshots, how to “wow” a casting director, or land an agent but found almost nothing on cultivating the well-being of the actor and the artist.
