Learn a Cockney Dialect!

Date: November 30th

Time: 5pm-7pm Pacific Time

Tuition: Donation

This very familiar British, working class accent, best known from the mouth of actor Michael Caine and characters like Eliza Doolittle is yet another major dialect to wrap your tongue around!

The dialects of many modern Londoners tend to hover between Standard British and Cockney. Play, learn and start to master the dialect in a fun, safe virtual environment.

Continuing classes will begin on Monday evenings, from November 9th until December 7th. This class has a suggested donation of $20.

MATTHEW FLOYD MILLER  was born in San Jose, California and grew up in Fresno, California. His first role was as the Candyman, in the play of the same name, written by a 5th Grade teacher, Mr. McMullen at Wolter’s Elementary. (He still has the candy stripped cane he used while dancing a soft shoe across the stage. A talisman of sorts). On opening night he discovered he wanted to act for the rest of his life. The rest is…well, the rest of his life.

Since graduating from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts Experimental Theatre Wing and Graduate Acting Program he has spent more than two decades acting in theatre, film, T.V., and on radio.

His Broadway credits include the Tony award winning, world premiere production of Not About Nightingales, written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Trevor Nunn, that was co-produced by the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain and played at Circle in the Square Theatre in New York. He also appeared in Lincoln Center Theatre’s Tony award winning production of Tom Stoppard’s The Invention of Love, directed by Jack O’Brien. Off-Broadway he played Benjamin Hubbard in the critically acclaimed, sold out run of Lillian Hellman’s Another Part of the Forest at  Peccadillo Theatre Co.

His film and T.V. credits include ‘Hand of God’ (Amazon. Opposite Ron Perlman); ‘Colony’ (USA); ‘Major Crimes’ (TNT); Criminal Minds (CBS); ‘Law & Order’ (NBC); ‘Stan the Man’ (streaming on Amazon. He plays a Russian mobster…it’s a hoot.), ‘Gun Woman’ (streaming on Netflix); ‘All Good Things’ (as young Frank Langella. The film stars Ryan Gosling.).

He also likes Yoga (he holds a 300 hour teacher certification from Kripalu Center in Lenox, Massachusetts), reading classic novels (who doesn’t like an 800 page doorstopper?), hiking, archaeology, listening to interview shows, dogs (probably was one in another life) and dark chocolate (life is bittersweet…).
