Actor's Workshops


These two-hour* professional workshops will focus on honing specific skills in your actor’s toolbox. The instructors will utilize their own different formats and styles, so each workshop will be unique. Please arrive on time, prepare to participate in an emotionally safe, respectful environment, and have fun!*(approximate time)*


Kirk Baltz: Scenes and Monologues. Kirk is both a coach and a working actor. He’s appeared in films such as Reservoir Dogs and Dances With Wolves, and he’s acted in dozens of television shows; most recent on ABC’s Wicked City as Artie Bukowski. He knows what it takes to ace auditions and book roles, and he’ll coach you to hone your scene sides and monologues.


Kate McGregor Stewart: Movement, Emotional Access, and Script Analysis. As an actor, Kate has worked in films such as School of Rock, Failure to Launch, and The Addams Family. Through her many years of coaching experience, she’s developed an acting method that can be adapted to your individual needs. Her workshops utilize improvisation, theater games, movement, emotional access, character development, script breakdown, cold reading and scene work. Participants can expect a robust, transformative experience.

Matt Barry: Audition Techniques. With two decades of casting experience combined with a successful acting career, Matt knows how auditions work. He’s cast over 30 feature films including The Other Women, Alpha Dog, The Notebook and Rush Hour 1 & 2. Matt recently opened Matthew Barry Teaches, a highly successful acting studio in Los Angeles. Join his workshop to focus specifically on cold reads, scene study, character breakdown, audition technique, and on-camera training. Warning: His passion is contagious! 


Rick Najera: Comedy and Character Development. Rick has written comedy for landmark productions like In Living Color and MadTV. He’s an award-winning author, accomplished speaker, actor, professional comedian, and also the director of CBS’ Diversity ProgramJoin Rick in his sketch comedy workshop. Learn from an expert on how characters are developed and how you can be apart of the vision and collaboration.  This opportunity might not come around again.


Paul Barry: Cold Reading, Audition Techniques, and Memorization. Paul Barry knows what filmmakers want. He’s coached his clients to land lead and guest roles in The Pacific, Shameless, NCIS, Spartacus, Greek, Dollhouse, Hercules, The Cape, Revolution, Teen Wolf and many more. He hails from Australia, has taught thousands of actors and owns Acting4Camera, a successful acting studio in Los Angeles. He’s appeared in dozens of productions himself.  In short, he knows what it takes to get the job.
The Second City Improv: Need we say more?  Second City is an iconic American comedy institution that helmed the improv movement and served as a launch pad for dozens of comedy’s greatest stars. Learn comedy and improv techniques that transfer to every type of acting.  Alumni of The Second City include Alan Arkin, Dan Aykroyd, James Belushi, John Belushi, John Candy, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Catherine O’Hara, Joan Rivers, and many more.
